Planning a destination wedding in Italy is a dream, but timing is everything. Our country’s diverse geography means the “perfect month” in one region might be less ideal in another. From the alpine lakes to our sun-drenched islands, we’re thrilled to share with you our weather-focused guide to choosing the best time to say “I do” in four iconic Italian regions.

Lake Como
Best months: Late May to September
Nestled in the foothills of the Alps, Lake Como offers dramatic mountain views, elegant villas, and a soft, romantic atmosphere. But its northern location means weather matters.
Spring (April–May)
April can still be cool and rainy.
By late May, temperatures typically range from 18–24°C (64–75°F).
Gardens are in full bloom—ideal for villa weddings.
Summer (July–August)
Warm and beautiful (25–30°C / 77–86°F).
However the occasional thunderstorm rolls in from the mountains.
It’s also peak tourist season which means higher prices and busier venues.
Early Autumn (September)
September in Lake Como is one of the best-kept secrets.
Warm lake water, golden light and fewer tourists.
We also enjoy milder temperatures and lower humidity than mid-summer.
Avoid: November through March. Many venues close for the season, and weather can be chilly and damp.

Tuscany
Best months: May to June and September to early October
Rolling vineyards, olive groves, and Renaissance villas make Tuscany a timeless wedding backdrop. Its inland climate brings hot summers and mild shoulder seasons.
Spring (April–June)
May and June are ideal: 20–28°C (68–82°F).
Lush green countryside.
Longer daylight hours for golden-hour photos.
Summer (July–August)
These months can be very hot, often exceeding 35°C (95°F).
Dry heat, but wedding ceremonies can feel intense in open vineyards.
If you choose Tuscany in the height of summer you might want to consider shaded venues or late-evening ceremonies.
Autumn (September–October)
Harvest season = a romantic vineyard atmosphere.
Warm days, but cooler evenings.
September is especially popular for Tuscan weddings for its stable weather.
Avoid: Mid-winter unless you’re planning an intimate indoor celebration.

Amalfi Coast
Best months: May to June or September
Cliffside views, colorful villages, and sparkling Mediterranean waters make the Amalfi Coast iconic! But its coastal climate often brings humidity and peak-season crowds.
Late Spring (May–June)
Arguably the sweet spot.
22–28°C (72–82°F).
Clear skies, vibrant bougainvillea, and manageable tourist traffic (especially in May).
High Summer (July–August)
Stunning but hot and humid.
Temperatures hover around 30°C (86°F).
Crowded streets and premium venue pricing.
Best suited for late-afternoon or sunset ceremonies.
Early Fall (September)
Warm sea, fewer tourists.
Comfortable evenings.
Soft golden light over the cliffs.
Avoid: November to March. Many hotels and venues close, and heavy rains are more common.

Sicily
Best months: May to June and late September
Sicily offers dramatic coastlines, baroque cities, and volcanic landscapes. It’s warmer and sunnier than mainland Italy for much of the year.
Spring (April–June)
One of the best times overall.
20–27°C (68–81°F).
Wildflowers bloom, and the air feels fresh.
Summer (July–August)
Very hot—often 35°C+ (95°F+).
Dry heat, especially inland.
Ideal for seaside weddings if you embrace the Mediterranean intensity.
Autumn (September–October)
The sea remains warm.
Fewer crowds.
September is especially reliable for sunshine.
Bonus: Sicily has a longer wedding season than northern Italy due to its mild climate.

Final Thoughts
If you’re wanting:
Blooming landscapes & comfortable warmth: Late May or early June is nearly unbeatable across all four regions.
Golden light & fewer tourists: September is your best friend.
Dramatic summer glamour: July and August can work—but plan for heat and higher costs.
